The Catholic tradition of infant baptism confuses Catholics and gives them a false confidence that they already have the born again experience. Without faith and repentance, the experience only served to get them wet and give their families an excuse to throw a party and consume mass quantities of tamales and beer. The Catholic Church teaching that water baptism is a sacrament of regeneration is the primary reason for many unsaved, baptised Catholics running around. |

Catholic infant baptism is just a promise by the parents and the family to raise the child CATHOLIC.
That is one of the reasons why Catholic family and relatives are so dismayed when one of their own becomes born again in Jesus Christ and leaves the Catholic Church. They view it as themselves letting the Catholic Church down. |

I agree the false notion that the Baby bath makes you "saved" is why many Catholics put God on the shelf and do not even examine themselves to see
where they stand with Him. Instead its about the church as a middle man to let them in. Considering the number of adult pagans, atheists, agnostics who
renounce Christ, the evidence of a RCC baptism being at all effective is very low!

Only last week you were complaining that the beginning of the Baltimore Catechism was too easy, but here you are showing that you really should start from the beginning. |

There is no shame in being ignorant of a subject. The RCC keeps people ignorant on purpose, they realize even too much information and real education even about Catholicism itself will lead many to the exit doors. |

Incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ 1267 Baptism makes us members of the Body of Christ: "Therefore . . . we are members one of another."72 Baptism incorporates us into the Church. From the baptismal fonts is born the one People of God of the New Covenant, which transcends all the natural or human limits of nations, cultures, races, and sexes: "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body."73 1268 The baptized have become "living stones" to be "built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood."74 By Baptism they share in the priesthood of Christ, in his prophetic and royal mission. You are right about that DOUG, they all think too, that just giving the baby a bath makes it automatically a Christian. So it is rather meaningless considering how many show up to church on that one day to please grandparents, and the kid never sees the inside of a CCD classroom or Sunday School for the rest of their life. This also gives the false idea, that one becomes Christian just because they were born to certain people and that is a lie. Even there no one cares about the child having a relationship to Jesus Christ or any real faith, just church MEMBERSHIP. |
